LIFE - Environment Project - NEST

 Networking with EMAS for Sustainable Development

 The EU Life funded NEST Project involves eleven municipalities across four European countries. The project aims to deliver a verified Eco Management Auditing Scheme to local authorities in Poland, Hungary and Greece.

The anticipated project results will be financially robust practical hands on measures, processes and procedures for effective implementation of EMAS. In particular the project will deliver:

• A guide book to help small and under resourced authorities implement EMAS.

• Best practice case studies developed under EMAS to help set international benchmarks.

• Successful verification under EMAS of participating local authorities.

• A report with recommendations to increase participation in EMAS across Europe.

• Wide dissemination of results through European Local Authority Networks.
